Le Brésil a décroché son quatrième sacre en Coupe du Monde U-17 de la FIFA. Il a battu le Mexique 2-1, ce 17 novembre en finale d'un tournoi dont il était l'hôte. Dominateur mais longtemps inefficace, le Brésil s'est fait surprendre par un Mexique réaliste en deuxième mi-temps. Poussé par un public de Brasilia tout acquis à sa cause, il est tout de même parvenu à renverser la situation. Kaio Jorge a égalisé sur penalty avant que Lozaro ne fasse la décision dans le temps additionnel.

Les Mexicains ont mis du temps à prendre leurs marques. L'enjeu était de taille, et l'Estadio Bezerrao plein à craquer avait de quoi impressionner. Dans un premier temps, les Nord-Américains se sont donc contentés de défendre, et d'amorcer des contres quand la défense brésilienne les y autorisait. Cela a permis à Efrain Alvarez d'inquiéter un peu le gardien brésilien Matheus Donelli, mais sans conséquence sur le score. En deuxième mi-temps, la stratégie demeurait la même. Et si la défense mexicaine restait toujours aussi solide, l'attaque se montrait cette fois réaliste, Bryan Gonzalez trouvant l'ouverture sur la première véritable occasion mexicaine du deuxième acte (66'). Mais cela a eu le don de piquer au vif les Brésiliens qui sont parvenus à égaliser à la 78ème minute, avant de faire la différence dans les ultimes instants.
Brésil
Après dix minutes marquées par quelques erreurs inhabituelles liées à l'enjeu, le Brésil a retrouvé son jeu fluide, aéré et vertical. Et cela a mis en difficulté El Tri. Les occasions étaient certes au rendez-vous, mais la finition ne l'était pas. Tour à tour, Kaio Jorge et Gabriel Veron se sont ainsi heurtés à Eduardo Garcia, quand ce n'était pas la barre transversale qui contrariait Joao Peglow. Rebelote en deuxième mi-temps, sauf que le Mexique, lui, a trouvé l'ouverture. Comme en demi-finale, les locaux ont alors élevé le degré d'intensité et sont parvenus à renverser ce match mal engagé. Et comme en demi-finale, c'est Lozaro, entré quelques minutes plus tôt, qui a endossé le costume de héros.
