Le Mexique n’y arrive pas. Après leur défaite contre l'Italie lors de leur entrée en lice, les hommes de Diego Ramirez ont encaissé un nouveau revers contre le Japon qui les met dans une situation critique dans le Groupe B. En face, les Nippons ne leur ont pas laissé beaucoup d'espoir grâce à un pressing impitoyable et des mouvements collectifs dont ils ont le secret.
Ils ont également soigné leur manque de réalisme constaté contre l'Equateur en ouvrant le score par Taisei Miyashiro d'un tir du gauche poteau rentrant (21’) et en doublant la mise après la pause d'un délicat coup de tête signé Kyosuke Tagawa (52').
Miyashiro a porté le coup de grâce en fin de rencontre (77'), s'offrant un doublé. Voilà qui devrait mettre en confiance les Japonais avant le choc contre l'Italie, le 29 mai à Bydgoszcz.
