La journée du 24 mars, la première dans la Zone Europe, a offert son lot d'émotions et de surprises dans les qualifications pour la Coupe du Monde de la FIFA, Qatar 2022™. Les hostilités se poursuivaient ce 25 mars dans trois confédérations.
Le premier rendez-vous de la journée, le seul match au programme dans l'AFC, a vu le Tadjikistan prendre le meilleur sur la Mongolie. Ce fut ensuite au tour de l'Europe d'être sur le pont, avec notamment l'entrée en lice réussie de l'Allemagne contre l'Islande (3-0), et celle de la Pologne de Robert Lewandowski, The Best - Joueur de la FIFA 2020, accrochée par la Hongrie (3-3).
L'Angleterre et l'Italie n'ont pas tremblé face à Saint-Marin (5-0) et l'Irlande du Nord(2-0), respectivement. Cela a été plus compliqué pour l'Espagne tenue en échec par la Grèce (1-1).
Enfin, la journée se terminait avec les premières rencontres de 12 nations de la CONCACAF, dont cinq anciens participants à l'épreuve mondiale : Canada, Salvador, Haïti, Panama et Trinité-et-Tobago.

Bien emmené par les cousins Dzhalilov, Manuchehr et Alisher, auteurs des deux premiers buts de cette rencontre, le Tadjikistan a fait le métier face à une Mongolie incapable de développer son jeu. Samiev Shahrom a enfoncé le clou en fin de match, ce qui permet aux Tadjiks de prendre la 2ème place du Groupe F, derrière le Japon.

- À Port-au-Prince, Haïti a fait la différence en deuxième période. Les Grenadiers ont marqué leurs deux buts sur corner et grâce à des défenseurs, Ricardo Ade et Steven Seance. Les Haïtiens engrangent leurs trois premiers points dans le Groupe E.
- Guus Hiddink a entamé le nouveau chapitre de son parcours en qualifications de Coupe du Monde avec une victoire maîtrisée, son équipe de Curaçao dominant facilement Saint-Vincent-et-les Grenadines. - Cyle Larin a réussi un triplé pour lancer idéalement le Canada sur la route de Qatar 2022. À l’occasion d’une facile victoire 5-1 contre les Bermudes à Orlando, les Canucks ont pu compter sur l’expérience européenne d’Alphonso Davies et ont profité des buts de Richie Laryea et Theo Corbeanu en seconde période.
- Dans le Groupe A, deux buts, un par mi-temps, se sont avérés suffisants pour que le Salvador, double participant à l’épreuve mondiale, remporte une victoire à domicile important contre une Grenade courageuse, mais inefficace.
