Dix-huit matches disputés sur trois continents nous attendaient ce 30 mars 2021 pour cette nouvelle journée de qualification pour la Coupe du Monde de la FIFA, Qatar 2022™.
L'Asie a été la première à se mettre en action, le Japon dominant largement la Mongolie (0-14). Un peu plus tard, la Palestine a été battue par l'Arabie Saoudite d'Hervé Renard (5-0).
En Europe, brillante lors de ses deux premières sorties, la Turquie a été accrochée chez elle par la Lettonie. Tenus en échec quelques jours plus tôt, Belgique et Portugal se sont, eux, parfaitement relancés face à la Biélorussie (8-0) et au Luxembourg (1-3) respectivement. A noter également la victoire de Chypre face à la Slovénie et le large succès des Pays-Bas à Gibraltar (0-7).
Six autres matches se déroulaient également dans la zone CONCACAF, qui ont tous souri aux équipes locales, avec six victoires à domicile sans aucun but encaissé.

- 13 minutes : voilà le temps qu'aura vécu le suspense entre le Japon et la Mongolie. Les Nippons ont ouvert le score par Takumi Minamino, qui a déclenché une avalanche de buts, inscrits par huit joueurs différents, dont un triplé de Yuya Osako, et des doublés signés Junya Ito, Sho Inagaki, et Kyogo Furuhashi. Avec ce succès 14-0, les Samouraïs Bleus égalent le record de la victoire la plus large dans les qualifications mondialistes de l'AFC pour Qatar 2022, qui appartenait à l'Iran, vainqueur sur le même score contre le Cambodge en octobre 2019.
- Saleh Alshehri a brillé pour permettre à l'Arabie saoudite de battre la Palestine 5-0 et de dépasser l'Ouzbékistan en tête du Groupe D. L'attaquant de 27 ans a marqué deux buts après la pause, le deuxième magistralement créé par un superbe dribble et un petit pont de Sultan Al Ghanam.

- Le Guyana a remporté son premier match de qualification pour la Coupe du Monde depuis novembre 2011. Terence Vancooten a ouvert les hostilités après huit minutes, avant que les buts s’enchaînent en seconde période, signés Kadell Daniel, le remplaçant Omari Glasgow et Emery Welshman.
- Le Bélize a lancé sa campagne de qualification pour Qatar 2022 avec une victoire sans suspense. Carlos Bernarndez a marqué juste avant la mi-temps. Jesse August a doublé la mise après la pause avant que Bernardez ne signe un doublé. Deshawon Nembhard, pour sa deuxième sélection, et le vétéran Deon McCaulay ont également trouvé le chemin des filets.
- Saint-Vincent-et-les Grenadines a mis fin à une série de huit défaites consécutives en qualifications pour la Coupe du Monde de la FIFA avec un succès 3-0 contre les îles Vierges Britanniques. Oalex Anderson a marqué à la 10ème minute et Zidane Sam - sacré prénom ! - a doublé la mise dix minutes plus tard pour offrir au Vincy Heat sa première victoire depuis septembre 2015. Azinho Solomon a donné un peu plus d’ampleur au score dans les dernières minutes.
- La Grenade s'est appuyée sur un unique but de Saydrel Lewis après la demi-heure de jeu pour relever le défi difficile proposé par les Îles Vierges Américaines. Les Bermudiens ont su rebondir après la défaite 5-1 subie contre le Canada quelques jours, et ont pris leur revanche après avoir été battus par Aruba lors des qualifications de la Ligue des Nations de la CONCACAF 2020.
